Spend the day at Bambu Indah swimming in spring fed pools. Sit and chat with friends in the riverside Warung restaurant, dine on simple but delicious, locally sourced food.
No visit to Ubud is complete without spending a day at Bambu Indah, the vision of jewellery designer John Hardy who arrived in Bali in the 70’s and his wife Cynthia whom he met here ten years later. Peaceful, laidback and in harmony with nature, this ecologically mindful jungle retreat encapsulates old school Bali in a new way. From the food grown in the gardens, to the water from the ground and the energy from the sun, Bambu Indah lives and breathes in symphony with the surrounding gardens and jungle and invites you to join us for an otherworldly experience.
Overlooking the spectacular Ayung River and spring-fed natural bathing pools, the riverside Warung is Bambu Indah’s signature restaurant. Delicious food sustainably and locally sourced is cooked in a traditional Balinese-style open air kitchen but it’s the dining room with roofs of treated bamboo bent into overlapping arches supporting a curved roof of hand-folded cand hammered opper shingles which catch the eye. “I wanted it to appear as though it was constructed by a highly intelligent bird,” explains Elora Hardy, John’s daughter and founder of Ibuku an innovative design and architectural company leading the way in working with bamboo and other sustainable materials. Open 7.30am to 9.30pm. Public access: Day-passes from: 10AM-4PM. Dinner: 5:30PM-9:30PM (last order at 8:30pm).
Our Bambiu restaurant on the cliff top is not currently open. Stay tuned for updates. The River Warung at Bambu Indah's natural pools is the only restaurant currently feeding our guests with delicious meals from our organic gardens.
